We’re extremely proud to have worked with one of the largest banks in Zimbabwe and an innovative financial services provider. Starting with a payments infrastructure that included just a few services such as internet banking, branches and acquiring of local card payments, the bank now leads the pack with an enviable selection of additional services, including agency banking, informal market products such as mobile wallet, a mobile banking app and more in-branch offerings.

  • 2009

    • Macro environment: Adoption of USD and recovery from hyper inflation.
    • Bank has traditional legacy infrastructure: 60 branches, local debit card acquiring, internet banking.

    • Planning and implementation of 'financial inclusion' and digital banking strategy.
    • Development begins on the mobile banking USSD platform.
    • Expansion plan implemented for POS acquiring network (currently processing an average of 100 000 transactions per month)

    • USSD mobile banking made available to legacy accounts.
    • Launch of financial inclusion KYC light bank account linked to USSD.
    • Agency banking: 150 Agents are rolled out.

    • Launch of bulk payments platform processing any number of real time payments to beneficiary accounts.
    • On-boarding of Tobacco companies: 40,000 beneficiary accounts for tobacco growers.
